CSS final review note
I am sorry I didn't make my CSS class well-organized.
However, I believe the review note can be helpful and guide you to the
right direction while you are preparing for the final exam. Please print
it out on your own if you need a copy.
I will be very busy this weekend, but I will try to reply e-mail
if you have any question. It is not my intention to make final exam very
difficult. Therefore, what you need to do is to really go through all the
topics we've talked about and make sure you have some great personal ideas
about them. And try to read some charts and graphs about population.
Also, we've talked about nuclear power. Even though we didn't
really spend a lot of time talking about it, you can still think about if we
need to develop nuclear power in the near future.
And I hope you did learn something from the final projects.
If you have time, you can go through all the videos. I hope you
will be inspired by your classmate. The links will be in the next
article. Enjoy it.
Best wishes
Savannah

Some reminders
My CSS students,
I am
glad that some of you already finished your video. I will watch them and
give you some feedback with details as soon as possible. However, here
are some problems I noticed today. I hope you can make some change if you
happen to have the same condition in your video. Please read through the
following reminders.
(1) Do NOT copy
anything from the internet.
l My expectation is that you use your own words to show what you've
found, what you've learned, and what you've thought. Coping and pasting are not acceptable in this
project.
l If you need to quote anything, you should follow the following rules. However, if you need to quote anything, you’d
better have a good reason.
(2) You MUST include all your
reference sources at the end of your video.
l Including pictures, origins of information, and so on.
l If you quote any sentences or paragraph from any websites, books,
magazines, it is required that you should include the source.
(3) If possible, please give me the link to your file or send me your
file before Thursday.
l If you can finish everything before Thursday, then I will have a
chance to talk with you in person. You
will have a better and clear idea if you need to make some adjustment.
l If you can’t make it before Friday morning, I may not be able to
give you any advice in time.
(4) The due date for
your video file is on Sunday, June 15.
Make sure you will have the final draft that day.
l Please tell me when I can download your file which you completely
finished.
(5) Your video should be at
least 4 minutes long, but no more than 6 minutes.
(6) Please do think about the information and the pictures are proper to present to your classmates.
l You should think “what the audience will learn after watching the
video.”
l You need to select proper language usages and pictures for your
classmates.
l Don’t give your classmates nonsense in your video. Make every second count in your video.
Here are some suggestions for your video layout.
(1) It will be better if you can HIGHLIGHT
some key words, if you have a lot of words on the screen at the same
time.
(2) Watch your video as an audience from very beginning to the end.
l While you are watching your video, please think about following questions:
i. How will the audience feel
every second?
ii. Is the layout or information
clear enough for the audience to catch the message?
iii. Can the audience get the information
that you want the audience to know?
iv. Do all the ideas flow
smoothly in the video?
(3) Don't make every frame or the animations too fancy to grab the
information that you want to convey.
(4) If you want to put some music in your video, you need to double
check if the music matches every frames
Above is what came to my mind after I watched some of your works.
I hope they will help. Be as picky as possible while you are making
the video. And please try to watch your own video as audience. From
this point of view, you will know what the really problems are in your video.
Please
come to me anytime if you have a question or need my help.
I
will add more if I come up with anything new.
Good
Luck!
