Some questions for you to think about!

Dear students,

       We almost finish the movie, "Big Miracle".  I hope you all enjoyed it and got some thing fresh from the movie. 

       As I said, you need to think about some questions that is related to the movie and the content of the textbook.  There are many characters in the movie.  Every character had a specific role and a job in the movie.  Everyone has different point of views about saving the whales.  After watching this movie, you should have some ideas about why they chose that job and what they could get from that job.  Here I provide some direction for you to think.

(1)You can see different kinds of jobs in the movie.  What are they?  What type are all those jobs? 

(2)What characteristics did every character have so that the character chose the job?

(3)What exactly did the character get from his/her jobs?

(4)Why did Jill Gerard, the female news reporter want to quit her job?  What did she lose?

(5)Why was Rachel Kramer, the Greenpeace volunteer, so serious and aggressive about the whale-saving matter?

(6)Why did Adam Carlson, the main character and the news reporter, always want to move to south states to work?  What can't the small city Barrow give to Adam?

(7)The Inupiat people hunt the whale for living.  Were they cruel? 

(8)If the whale hunter can provide the meat of whale, the news reports provide news, what can a soldier, a politician, a volunteer from Greenpeace can provide?

(9)Volunteers from a charity organization like Greenpeace are usually not paid well and their jobs are usually tough and challenging.  Why are some people still willing to do that job?

(10)There were two people who produced and sold home-made deicer.  What kind of risks did they need to take to do this business? 

      Of course, there are still many more topics we can talk about after watching this movie.  However, I would like you to focus more on people's jobs and the rewards from the job.  Please think those questions deeply and find your own reasonable and logical answers to the questions.  We will have some discussion this coming Wednesday.
