2013/03/04 Communication book


Today's focus
(1)5 European countries: Benelux, Switzerland, Austria
(2)Questions to think:
(a) How do you know that the information you get is correct?
(b) Why can you get so much information nowadays?
(c) How did people 600 years ago think about the world?
(d) Why did they think in this way?
(3) The way people though before 17th century

Note:
(1) Today I gave everyone an easy pop-quiz.  From the result, I knew most of you really got the concept right.  That's good.  

(2) I hope everyone can be more concentrated in the class and get more involved in the topic we are talking about.  You don't have to spend a lot of time reviewing, because I don't ask you to memorize everything in the textbook.  However, you need to spend time thinking about the questions I ask you in the class.  If you have time and you are able to do some research through on-line resources or printed resources, it will be good for you that you go find more details about the topic we are discussing.  You will benefit much more from curiosity and the action you take to gratify your curiosity.

Homework
(1) Know where Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria are.
(2) Do some research about how people lived and thought in Meddle Ages and Renaissance/
(3) Think about the following questions:
(a) What made people 600 years ago believe that the earth was flat?
(b) Why religions were so powerful to dominate how people thought and lived?
